A message from a recent leaver

The Lynxes Week may have had the image of some very Old Cranbrookians gracing the school cricket field for 5 games a year. But with no disrespect to the experienced ones amongst us, this is a common misconception. Over the last few years, more and more recent leavers have been getting involved, making it competitive cricket but also great fun.

The Lynxes Week is not only a great time to meet up with all your old mates that you used to play with at school but you do get to realise there is more to gain from school cricket after you leave. During the Week, games such as those against Old Georgians and the Scorpions provide great character and excitement. I am sure you already look forward to the annual game against the Old Boys - this needs no introduction as some of the most recent leavers that you know so well come back to play.

One thing I must mention is the Cricket World Cup which really brings out the competitive streak in the O.C. cricketers. This is probably the most serious part of O. C. cricket as it is a competition for Old Boys from schools across the country to play against each other for the coveted title of World Champions! Cranbrook won the first ever competition and two years ago we won it again!

My final point is this all cannot take place without you guys getting involved. Find out more about Lynxes Cricket on the website or by calling one of the contacts. Try and play - you will get great enjoyment out of it and the competitive streak is always there. I hope to see you all taking to the field soon !
